The 56 Caribbean looks like a flood car. It was probably underwater and in decent condition prior to that. The seat cushions were likely brought inside to dry out.

Your theory on the Caribbean's seats makes sense to me.

I am also thinking that we shouldn't be so hard on the seller ... he probably got this car in this condition and is only trying to move it on to someone who will take care of it.

I really like that '36 120B sedan. It looks very good in that silver/red combo. The price isn't bad either.
