You can use a u bolt...


I can send you the bar I bent,,

hot rod,,,you really don;t need 2 ,, one works..

or you can use HD chain and GR8 bolts:

Shows both. I wouldn't use allthread because I don't think it is strong enough.

Hotrod........the chain variation that Craig mentions is how I accomplished the job. The chain's links frankly can be a PITA but it is possible. I have since purchased an exact copy of the tool for the next 55-56 Packard I restore.

There is actually a problem with the J6065 tool. It does NOT grab enough of the frame to actually hold the torque arm securely. In retrospect, I wouldn't use one.

J6065 was reproduced in several campaigns by Bob Berg, but his last run some years back was his last. Nevertheless many of the 55/56 Packard folks I know have two of them so it shouldn't be too hard to find someone in TX to loan you one. Check with your local PAC region members for a start. I've used the Berg repro tool quite a few times, it works just fine.
