That valve looks like part of the Antikythera mechanism.

I was kind of wondering myself if that engine had been found at the bottom of Lake Michigan with a piece of chain wrapped around it -- any loose boats been reported aimlessly drifting toward the sunset?.

Back to post #184. I received a call out of the blue, That Black car I was looking at last year the sale fell through, I am going to pick it up next week and finish it based on the two 56's.
Unfortunately, there is just way too much body damage to still repair for without going into the many, many digits. I am leaning toward finishing the frame since all parts are on hand, and gut the body and scrap the old girl.

Hopefully the rest of the AC parts are present on that black car-- even if you don't plan on reusing them. I can see part of the expansion valve and part of the modulator valve in that photo which means the coil and box is probably there. Expansions are not too bad because aftermarkets can be made to work but If modulator is in good condition so much the better. Those in working condition -- like new valves for Lehigh compressors -- are hard to come by.

Speaking of compressor valves, that might be something worth looking into for your store and I'd even provide a damaged pair to examine. I don't know if something thin and flat like the valves could be made with the plasma or laser cutting process or how much demand there would be but if they were available I'd be a customer.

Hi Troy

Good for you, saving another '56 Patrician! Is this the unfinished project '56 from Kentucky that was for sale on Craigslist for a long time? Glad you've got it!

Back Home from The Thumb of Michigan, waved to the Canuk's across the river.

The patrician is home and ready to complete the restore.

Since I took the guys last packard, he wanted rid of all his packard parts. Wound up Filling the truck with bumpers, tons of chrome, gadgets, transmissions, compensator, Caribbean, 400 parts, head liners, seats, door panels, relays, well worth the trip.
