Agree John! Still working up the nerve for another run. My first run was very bumpy and Howard suggested I may have flat spots on the tires. I looked closely and I see some deformity so I think he is right.

I ordered a hub puller off Amazon tonight for 38$! Hope it is good enough to remove the rear drums. I'd like to go through the brakes and emergency brake before the next drive.

Awesome! Glad I have a plan "B" to fall back on. The price was incredible so I hope the quality is good enough for the job, otherwise Autozone it is!

I haven't had time for the brakes, but I did spend some time on my clock. I have the guages from my '51 in the '52 because they were in better shape and I had the clock working by cleaning and oiling it. Somehow it became "over-wound" for lack of a better word. The parts that rotate to unwind the clock while it is running (I'll call the "weights") would not move anymore. The clock in the '52 does not work either. I took the clock partially apart and noticed some "clamps" with springs on them. Two of them are on the section with the "weights" and a third is under a brace on the main clock movement. That clamp also has a spring but it appears to not do anything. Maybe it's broken? In the pics, I used red arrows to mark them. They appear to clamp onto a wheel (green arrow). Disassembling the clock allowed it to be unwound. Now when I rotate the "weights" to wind the clock, it does not grab and just unwinds again. Would the issue be these "clamps"? I've looked online for a video or website that describes this clock but cannot find anything. Only clocks that are more modern than this one. Anyone out there have knowledge on how to repair these things? Is there a website showing the disassembly and repair of these particular clocks?

Good luck with your clocks, would love to get mine in my 51 working too! Will keep a keen eye on your thread to see how you go. And my windshield wipers, no one here wants to bother with them so I'm thinking of just replacing the gaskets to see if that fixes the vacuum on them.

Other than cleaning and gaskets don't know what else Ficken does or replaces on a wiper motor rebuild. One thing I've noticed on a few taken apart is the leather or maybe felt seals on the sides and end of the paddle are usually dry and perhaps even shrunk a bit making for a very poor seal to the sides of the case.

The factory article on lubing with Trico oil might be of some use if you haven't tried it yet. Several have used regular vacuum pump oil as a substitute when doing the lube but don't know if the procedure has benefited long term or if they still had to do a rebuild.

Let me know which hub puller you got and how it works for you. I've been eyeballing them on Amazon also.

Genetik, for your clock try cleaning and oiling it before doing anything. Then dress the contacts that energize the winding mechanism and look for any burnt/shorted areas. Many have had success doing this to get their clocks running.

Automobile clock repair

Here is an article that helps. The movement even looks like a Borg. I wish the pictures were clearer. I also wish I could find a parts diagram or piece by piece explanation of what each part does.
