RE: 19th-23rd series -
Could someone give me the general dimensions and wire size for the clutch fork spring. It hooks on the end of the clutch fork and then forward to a bracket mounted on the rearmost lower bolt of the steering box. (Group 3115)
Thanks,
Mark

Mark it appears to be a custom spring. My extended length installed is 19 1/2" and I would guess the at rest or retracted length is probably 17 1/2 to 18". I couldn't get a good grip or angle to unhook it without raising the car again but if you need those specifics I can do it later on. Figure a half inch for some constant tension and then subtract that and the clutch lever throw from the extended length should give a fairly good dimension of the out of the box length needed.

The ends extending from the coil are 3" on one end and 7" on the other. Diameter of coil appears to be 5/8" and wire size by use of an ordinary micrometer is in the .092-.093 range

It attaches to the frame. It's roughly 20 inches long when connected. If you have a special bracket on your steering box, could you upload a photo, please.
When My camera regains some battery, I'll take a photo of where mine connects.

This shows where my spring attaches. The bracket below it is for the clutch master cylinder. The steering box is toward the right of this photo, but well out of sight.

I "lost" my spring during the time I was restoring my 47.
Went down to the hardware store to check for some type of replacement. Nothing like the original one. got a spring 6 to 7 inches long.....not one with too much tension... closed loop on each end. Got an old wire coat hanger. cut the straight part and bend the ends into a loop type hook for each end. It's been working fine.
Just needed to keep things from rattling.

Thanks. I suspect there's a difference between Clippers and the traditional style cars, if not between prewar and postwar cars.

The clutch return spring on my 47 Custom is attached to a bracket like Howard's photo shows.

My spring broke also but still a good example. Looks about 16 and 1/2 inches long.

I am restoring a 41 packard 110 coupe, it had no return springs for the clutch fork or clutch pedal or brake pedal. The photos you posted are a help do they apply to my car? Do you have any photos for the brake pedal and clutch pedal?

Many thanks
