I called on a 55 400 for sale here in Iowa and the seller said it was SOLD to a guy in Duluth MN who called on it one day after posting.

Here is the ad:

http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/4539354233.html

I have seen some reference to a V8 Packard parts guy on the forum from up that way. I want to look at the car for purchase as a restoration project so wanted to talk to him.

Can someone pass along his contact information to me, or mine to him?

Also I was looking at a 56 Executive 2 door hardtop and if I don's get the 400, I will need parts for the Executive.

Thanks

Mike may have passed on the 400? If the Exec is near the twin Cities, it's a cool car but it needs a good deal of work.I have inspected it so PM me if you would like the lowdown.

You guys are killing me! I want a 56 400 or Patrician pretty bad. I am not sure how you can tell it is a 56 over a 55 except maybe the eyebrows.

I called the seller on this ad and he said "some guy from Duluth said he'd buy it so I guess it's sold."

I have CASH IN HAND.

This car is in Iowa I am pretty sure. It's still on Craigs List. I have flagged it a couple of times, not out of anything mean spirited but if it's sold, it should be removed from CL. Some sellers never do , and these cars stay on my search list for a long time.

The car is evidently painted in my favorite colors, that Heather Pink, black/white. Favorite color, favorite Packard in the 50's model, and in Iowa. Wow. I am trying to bring a pre war Packard in from Nova Scotia Canada and so far it's expensive.

I'll contact Mike and see if he will change his mind. At the least, I would be buying quite a few parts from him.

I am not sure how you can tell it is a 56 over a 55 except maybe the eyebrows.

If they are senior cars and stock, a few other ways to tell from a distance or a quick glance:

55 had PACKARD spelled on hood, 56 did not have the name but had a crest on the hood
55 had the side "reynolds wrap" stop at the vertical chrome molding in front of quarter panel. 56 carried it all the way back to tail light.
55 tail lights had gold Vees below the lens and 56 had the red hexagons.
55 trunk lid was rounded in the center and handle and decoration was a long horizontal chrome piece. 56 lid was squared and had a large gold circle with the Vee and crest as the handle .

Easy way to tell by looking at the dashboard, 56 had a larger clock.

Just me, but I'd pay a lot more money for a good '56. They're better in most every way.
