Good morning!
I spent a good deal of the last evening reading some restoration blogs.
I noticed that a lot of these old cars are passed around, and former owners sometimes can provide information.
With that being said, I was wondering if anyone here had owned my Patrician.
It is #5582-6862. It has a paint code of KN and a trim code of 69.
The former owner, whose name I forget, told me that he got it from someone who was stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC.
On the front bumper is a Dept. Of Defense sticker.
There is an old oil change sticker from Bob Webb's Shell in Long Beach.
On the radiator is a Paramount Radiator Service sticker.
I know it's a long shot, but I just had to ask!
Thanks in advance, Steve

Hello, I believe I recognize this car as once having been in the stable of the Greatest V8 Packard Collector I ever knew...Joe Clayton. He had a couple in this color scheme and he sometimes added Yankee Pacesetter rearview mirrors to them (which this car appears to have?).

Joe lived in a Los Angeles suburb and owned many a 1955-56 Packard over the years. Many of these cars were merely shuttled off to new owners that Joe believed would take care of them. That's about all I can tell you. No idea who he sold it to or traded it to, but obviously that person was in the Air Force at one point.

Are you talking about the mirror on the fender? If so, that's a Packard spotlight/ mirror combo.

Ahhh... hard to see whether a mirror or spotlight in the photo. But Joe indeed had a couple of Patricians in exactly this color scheme and one was almost identical condition when I last saw it many years ago. He often installed Yankee mirrors on the left front fender in this same position. Thus the thought that it might be one of his old ones...

Sorry for the off topic. Nice Patrician you have there! Can you post a closer photo of the spotlight / mirror? :)

Too bad the spotlights on the V8s require so many large holes and for practical purposes, not removable once installed.

On the earlier cars it was mostly a door and piece of molding that suffered. It is relatively easy to replace a molding and door panel or bit of upholstery to cover a changed mind on those cars. The V8 spotlight install needs holes in the fender, cowl, dash and dash pad so not quite as easy to repair, cover or replace those pieces..
