I have been tinkering with some more electric gremlins and stumbled upon my non working license plate light. Some previous owner bodger rammed a replacement socket into the socket (unfortunately I didn't take a picture), but the light was not working anyway. So I took it out and took care of it. Just a tiny little drainage hole blocked combined with no gaskets at all lead to a non functional license plate light.

after cleaning off the not so protective undercoating revealing the bubonic plague: Ferric oxyde ...

after some short sand blasting

cut out the worst bits

and weld some new bits in

Next step will be sheradizing the housing for a better future rust proofing and a lick of paint.

Parcel service delivered some long awaited parts today:

together with HT cables, terminals and covers ...

Unfortunately the ignition coil choose to collapse just after I placed the order, so another delay until the car will be running smoothly again. Resized Image

Finished the splash panel and wing support. Just have to lend the spot welder from the local blacksmith and weld it together and weld it back in again. Ah yes, painting it prior to installing will be an option

Meanwhile I sheradized the license plate light and took care of two rusted tail light bodies:

Derusting the lazy way: Acid rust stripping. After 30 minutes only some zinc is left.

Inside of the taillight and license plate lamp bodies will be painted white to increase light emitting efficiency.
