There really is no way to tell that precisely unless you're lucky enough to find the original build slip above the glove box. Motor number and more importantly the theft-proof number would give you a relative idea of where it stands in the overall sequence of 22nd series production.

From original delivery tickets that I have,

2262-9875 was delivered to the 1st owner on 2/1/48.
2262-8130 was delivered to the 1st owner on 12/30/47.

Obviously your car was built before the earliest of those dates. When I have time I'll see if I have delivery info on a 2262 with earlier VN.

UPDATE: Here's a few more deliveries to 1st owners:

2262-2246 - November 18, 1947
2262-4657 - November 8, 1947

Remember, 22nd series production began (with the Super 8 convertibles) in April of 1947.

Thanks Owen - I was NOT lucky enough to find the original build slip over the glove box, nor anything on the gas tank tube. Looks like it was built in 47. I think that I sent you the theft- proof number. If not, I will get it to you. Engine number looks like G 292892 Thanks

If you sent me the theft-proof number I failed to record it, would appreciate it again. Neal's book indicates 2262 production was scheduled to start in October 1947. Engine# is doubtful, perhaps mis-read?

Engine cast date will give you a rough approximation of the production date, but just a rough one (earl, mid, late).

How close are the Briggs body number and the vehicle number on the patent plate?

I guess the dealer did not stamp his name and delivery date on the patent plate.

Early 22nd series cars had the bumper center sections and headlight trim rings painted body color.

Any clues in Robert Neal's book?

We all would like to know all the history of our Packards, but this is rarely available. I am lucky that I can trace the ownership of my 1955 Clipper back to the delivering dealer and first owner.

I probably misread the engine number - Hard to see - Will have to look again, The Vehicle number is 2262-3445 , The Briggs body number is 2262-3425. The Theft Proof number is < 749076 > Hope this helps - Thanks

The patent plate has only the Vehicle Number - 2262-3445.- Everything else has been rubbed off.

Thanks for the data, but one too many digits in your theft-proof number. Would you mind to check it again?
