I was looking at the Panther project site at front shock numbers & it appears that a Monroe #911096 will work on a 56 Exec. with T/L. Can anyone verify if this will indeed work.

I do not believe that is correct. Monroe 911096 has eyelets on both sides, The 56 T/L fronts have the Rod for the top and the T-Bar at the bottom. I personally only use KYB Excel G on all my vehicles. KYB, is the OEM replacement manufacturer for the big three.

56 w/T/L KYB 344066 - Front
KYB 343402 - Rear

This also comes up because the aftermarket people want to do a one size fits all & didn't account for the different shocks between 55 and 56. There is a discussion from a couple of years ago showing an adapter that some have used to utilize different shock mounts.http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=79115#forumpost79115

Here's a picture, courtesy of Randy Berger, of the Monroe (MAECO) adapters that allow the use of bottom post-mount shocks on a 56. These were very common in their day but it's not often that you come across a set these days.
