A local shop has torn down my '37 transmission. The synchronizer yoke has 2 plungers and rollers, he is not sure how to remove the plungers (afraid he might damage it). Anyone here had experience with this? How do we remove them?

G'day charvey,
to PackardInfo, but sorry I can't assist with your query.

However, I invite you to include your '37 Super 8 the Packard Owner's Registry.

I don't know if you have the service manual but there are a few paragraphs on transmission disassembly in the 37-38 service manual. You can download herehttp://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1937-1938_ShopManual.pdf if you don't have it. If you haven't checked it out, the super 8 section starts on page 105 and there is a synchronizer measurement they suggest taking before disassembly and a sequence of removal.
