Hi

Welcome! And Gadzooks! Seconding what Ross said "You've snagged yourself the rarest of the rare!" A 22nd Series Custom Eight Club Sedan is a darn-near extinct model! We'll all be interest to follow your progress restoring this gem.

Please join the Packard Club, we'd love to have you as a member. Only a dozen 2206-2255's are registered with PAC members.

To educate yourself all about Custom Eights and all 22nd Series Packard in general, avail yourself of a copy of Robert J. Neal's great book Packard 1948 to 1950. It is THE book to read and enjoy for every 1948-50 Packard owner.

Steve

Thanks everyone for the congratulations and comments. I've eyed these Packards for almost 30 years and the Custom Club Coupe fit the bill of what I was searching for. The 'trick' was finding the right one for me. Yes, they are not plentiful. I was shocked to look at the production numbers and compare against known cars. All the more reason why I'm glad this car is as complete as it is. Only missing 3-4 trim pieces and fortunately none of them are unique to the club coupe so replacement should be easier.

I picked up RN's 1948-50 Packard book a couple years ago and have read it cover to cover twice. You're right - it's THE book to own for these cars.

What a great purchase - CONGRATULATIONS! I will look forward to your blog on this restoration.
And a tip of the hat to 58L8134 for an enthusiastic response and the invitation to join the Packard Club. That's the spirit of this forum.

Wow, you've snagged yourself the rarest of the rare, a Custom Eight club sedan. That would have been the single fastest American production car that year.

Hey Ross - where are the stats on that? I was flipping through RN's book and thought I found the section, but did this car officially win some records in the speed department?

For how heavy this thing is, that surprises me.
