22nd Series Power Window Switch

I have operability problems with power windows. Indications are the switches need to be de-oxidized, cleaned, lubed, etc.
How does the switch come apart? Does the switch know screw on to the switch shaft? If not, how does it come apart?

Thanks.

There is a procedure in section 1, hydraulic system of the 46-50 service manualhttps://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/servicemanual4650/Section1.pdf starting on page 16 on removing the switch from the door and then removing and replacing the switches..The photos in the manual are not very good but perhaps with a switch in hand to look and compare with what you can see in the photos it can be figured out. If you have a printed manual the photos are a tiny bit better.

If not, if you can post a good photo of the rear and side of the 48-50 switch so we can see if they are similar in construction to later ones. There are some good photos of the 51-4 switch showing how those come apart and how all the individual parts fit together. Those photos have been posted here before so if someone runs across them perhaps they can link and you can see if your switch is similar.

The 22/23 series are different than the later models. I have a 26th series and it's easy to figure out how to proceed. The 22/23 series have a plastic escutheon and knob, and somehow the knob needs to be removed to get to the guts of the switch. I'm trying to not destroy the plastic knob, but it needs to be removed, somehow.

The spring clips that hold the switch into the mounting plate need to be removed by pressing in on the small tab through the hole in the end of the ivory plastic escutcheon.
The plastic knob can be removed by pushing the retaining pin through the black housing with a stiff wire.

Thanks, BDeB. I also learned something new with those switches needing an extra step to disassemble. For future reference, do you have any photos of the guts you could post. The round metal interior part of knob assy looks similar to later switches so was wondering if the operation and the rest of the contact plates and spring arrangements are also about the same so the same info on places to check for failures could be used?

Here are photos of the switch internals and operating button.

The middle contact on the switch is the battery terminal and is contacted by the inside of the metal cylinder at the lowere end of the button for both up and down operation of the window.

For raising the window the lower outer part of the cylinder contacts the brass plate for the cylinder and the upper outer part contacts the plate for the pump motor.

To lower the window the upper outer part of the cylinder contacts only the cylinder plate as the lower part of the plate for the motor is angled farther away from center. The motor terminal is at the right side in the photo.

Thanks again.. That part appears the same so they must have just changed the packaging a bit.
