Steve McQueen's Packards.

While enjoying a book on "McQueen's machines", I learned that he had owned 3 Packards at the time of his death and that they were auctioned at the big estate auction at the Imperial Palace in the Fall of 1984.
They included:
A 1940 120 Convertible Coupe
A 1939 Super 8 4 Dr Sedan
A 1934 Super 8 Convertible Coupe.
Are any of you familiar with these cars? Maybe one resides in your collection?

He was partial to Indian too. I know a man that MQueen had bought several indians and a large cache of parts from back in the 1970's.

Keith, go this way to see the King of Cool riding various bikes.

64avanti, one of them was located in Belgium for a decade and then sold this year in my neck of the woods. Pics by courtesy of the German "Motor Klassik". I'll try to include a page of the auction catalog. The car went under the hammer in Paris in February.

Quoting the catalog "Desirable body style of a convertible" - yes, it has certain advantages when pepole start to tell you, what is desirable. It isn't necessary anymore to develope an own taste. What you need most is Soylent Green.

Gerd,
for posting the pic's. A few things caught my eye......senior tail lights, later model(?) bumper over-riders and the wire wheels while the under running board radio antennae is a rarer accessory.

While the taillights, trunk rack and wheels are not correct, it sure looks good with them.

West, I agree, the car istself looks good but it doesn't look like a typical McQueen car (Porsche, Mustang, Ferrari, Jaguar, ... , Massey Ferguson).

BDC, always good to hear from you.
Measured by the published estimate between $100,000 - $150,000 it ends early with $107,000. Do you know what did the car sell in 1992 in NYC?
