In the list of cars there is only 1 Packard, described as "Packard Cabriolet Super Eight: 4,250 were made, marking the end of the Super Eight series."

Steve, thanks for the video. Great content and professional make, including camera work that follows the music or vice versa.

Hi

I watched the video twice, didn't spot the Packard at all. Did anyone else glimpse it?

Seriously desirable cars in seriously deteriorated condition. Clearly, when it became obvious the restoration of and display in his dream museum was an impossibility, dispersal should have begun. Liquidation of a few of the most valuable could have financed the restoration of other still unique, significant cars.

If you consider that many of these cars were bought in the 60s and 70s, some of them must have been in very nice condition at that time; tis a shame they didn't get better preservation. Is the Talbot-Lago perhaps sporting Fagoni & Falashi coachwork? A very similar one was shown at Pebble recently.

UPDATE: Thanks Steve for the correct spelling, Figoni.

Hi Owen

The coachbuilder for the Talbot-Lago, if not Figoni & Falashi, might be Saoutchik. A well-known '48 Cadillac bodied by the latter carries frontal styling almost the same at this Talbot-Lago.

Saoutchik too practiced those broad sweeping chrome trim surfaces on the fenders. Both companies created bodies with wonderful proportions but always a bit overdone when it came to the accent garnishes. Neither seemed to have a feel for the broad grille themes becoming the norm as evidenced by their later bodies. F & F partnership ended in 1951, Figoni carried on afterward; Saoutchik lasted until 1955.

Glad you clarified that. Sounded tongue in cheek. Wondering if politically incorrect razz or real designers. lol

Stewart,

Thanks for the heads-up. And although many of the comments are in french there's a translation link. But......at times the translation needs translation itself when something becomes lost in the translation!
