Saw this video of a gal from Mt. Pleasant, MI working on her Fierohttp://www.wimp.com/carlearning/

A lot of lessons to learn from what is going on here.

First, she is learning, having fun and working toward a rewarding goal - driving a car. Second, she is using a Fiero online forum (similar to PackardInfo) for advice and social media to help her out. Therefore, the learning curve is shorter and she can reach her goal sooner.

Let's make sure we carry a positive attitude with the young folks that might check in here.

Great to see.

My son had a great experience before Christmas - he is part of an engineering club after school and they recently broke the world land speed record for a rocket powered model car.

The record was 280 mph but they took it up to 533 mph along Rolls Royce's runway close to where we live.

Here's the report from the Discovery Channel

Yeah, I had a probably 30 minute conversation with a GE Delivery guy that was visiting my next-door neighbors - he saw the garage open and I was working on the Packard, so he stopped by to chat.

We ended up talking about everything from the Packard to rotary engines and boost controllers for his Volkswagen GTi and the merits of FWD vs RWD for sports cars.

Good conversation, good kid. He thanked me for talking to him, which made me feel old for the first time since the CEO of my company gave a speech and threw out there that we had a lot of people with the company who weren't alive when Windows 95 came out (I'm 34), but I told him I loved cars and was totally happy to take some time out to share it with others who can appreciate it.

I looked at a prewar packard last week, and I had my 8 year old daughter with me. The owner opened the garage door and the first thing my daughter says: "look dad he has a Packard!"

At car shows whenever I see a well-behaved kid who seems interested, I let him sit in the front seat with hands on the wheel (their feet never seem to reach the pedals) and let Mom or Dad take a few pictures.
