When the paint was removed from the surface of the fenders it was black, then red, then primer, then metal.

The underneath side of the fenders (wheel side) was undercoated. Under the undercoat is red. I've been told that didn't happen, that the undersides are supposed to be black. Possibly because of the 'R' code, the underneath side of the fenders was also treated differently.

Red paint on both. When the black paint on the outer surface was removed, the next color was red. When the undercoating was removed from the wheel side of the fender, it was red under the undercoat. I've been told the inside of the fender is supposed to be black. Possibly with the 'special paint code' they treated the inside the same as the outside.

I also have a factory photo of what appears to be a white model, and the inner fenders are white. It may be the case of 'if you buy it, we'll make it any way you want'.
