115c - Carter WA-1 477s

As I continue to put my 115c back together, I was expecting to put a carb kit into my car since the carb is filled with dried rotten modern fuel. After looking for a kit and looking through the posts on the web site, the Chandler Groves carb on the car doesn't seem likely to be fixed.

Would anyone have a Carter WA-1 477s that they might be willing to sell, or have any leads that they could share, so that I can continue to move forward with this car?

The car is not being restored, I'm just trying to get it running so that I can drive it, as is, so I'm hoping that someone may gave good used one that may need cleaning and a kit.

Thank you all for your help, the folks on this site seem to be some of the most helpful that I've run into.

Bob

Report from the Charlotte airport wifi...
Forget about the chandler grove.
If you can wait, I have a 477s, no problemo. If not, certainly someone will, for example ask your new best friend, Gary K.

Bob, my 115C has a Stromberg carburetor, but I don't know the number. It has been trouble free. It uses an electrically heated choke which works just fine. You might think about one of these. David Flack may be able to help you with one or maybe even a Carter; although, he just left for Europe.

Yes, the stormberg Bxov_26 is another later option, either the 40-41 version, or the Bxov-25 universal replacement version I suspect JW is running with the electric choke.

There must be something out there amongst us....

JW

Is the Stromberg a direct drop in for the current linkage set up from the Chandler Groves or are there any modifications necessary?

Do you have a photo that shows your current set-up that you could share?

Thank you for your help.

I checked with the service manager at Barbizat and was reminded that the later cars used a pivot off the manifold rather than the pull from the firewall, but this is minor....the issue is getting something into Bobs hands...one more step.....c'mon guys...surely there is something closer than me shipping one from Europe!

Bob, here are three photos of the Stromberg carburetor as installed. The linkage has a pivot on the intake manifold. The air cleaner is non-standard. There are some identification marks on the throttle body. Cast is BXOV2 and stamped above that is B6. Hope this helps.

I pasted the photos directly from my iPhone. Maybe Mal can straighten them out. Either way you should be able to determine the installation.
