I have been working on getting the bearings repacked and replacing the seal. I have taken the brake assembly apart and cleaned every thing up and painted. It seamed to me that the brake springs were not to tight, I read in one of the service letters that a red replacement was used and placed in a different hole to provide more pressure. Now them seam rather tight ( tighter then a late modal car. Does any one have any more info. Thanks Dell

Return springs on mechanical brakes tend to have more tension that with hydraulics; rather than just having to push some fluid back to the master with no real resistance, they have to return a hole assembly of cams, levers, rods and cables back to their original positions.
