Just went to see "The Finest Hours" today and if you looked real quick and knew where to look you could spot my car in 2 or 3 shots.

In the latest Elks magazine is an article about hood ornaments. Several pictures of packard hood ornaments, the article doesn't say a whole lot about packard.

1930 Dual Cowl Phaeton in The Three Stooges short "Violent is the Word for Curly"(1938). The boys put water in the gas tank and gasoline in the radiator. Moe checks the coolant level with a lit match and .... BOOM! The car has a few anomalies. V-shaped stone guard (probably a modernizing 1932 add-on), a 1929 tail lamp, no fender lamps even though it is a Big 8, chrome band at the back of the bonnet, aftermarket radiator cap and horns under the headlights (another 1932 add-on). Short clip here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3aBPbahZbI

One of my favorites is the original 1951 "Day the Earth Stood Still". Several seconds of a 22- 23rd series. Car stops, they open the hood and then when earth starts again, close hood and drive off.

Yeah... did you ever notice that for a relatively new car, it apparently had a hard life... missing trim on both passenger side doors [22nd Series Custom].

1931 Big 8 Touring in the Three Stooges short "Oily to Bed, Oily to Rise" (1939). The door handles and wheels appear to be off earlier models.

Those "carriage-type" door handles look correct to me, these were characteristic of the Touring body style.

Recently checked out the DVD "Florence Foster Jenkins" from the library and was amused to see a 23rd series Packard in no less than three scenes. What was amusing was the fact that the year being depicted was 1944. I guess the movie makers figure that 99.9% of the viewing audience won't notice the 5 year discrepancy. I think there were some post-war GM products as well.

The 22-23 series did seem to get around didn't they. Central casting must have had a garage full in the 50s. Didn't catch the name of the movie but I saw the last half of a spy thriller set in early wartime Latin America a while back. It was in black and white but there was a light colored 23rd Packard carrying a main character in several scenes. I remember how the oval tail lights stood out as it took off chasing another character driving a proper looking car for the era. At least that Packard didn't smash into a gasoline tanker and go over a cliff in a mass of flames like they did to a 22-23 convertible in another movie.
