Thanks for the pics, replys and info about the door seals. Last weekend I got The car together enough that it can be transported to my new garage here near Stuttgart. Should get here later tonight! I have 2 weeks off for "paternity leave" which is exciting challenging and awesome. I might get just a little Packard time in though!!!

OK! Packard made it to my new garage and barely fits from the length, but that will have to do. Now I need to unpack and sort the parts that go on The car, and parts that get stored in the basement...

Not much going on with the Packard, but she is waiting patiently and dry in the garage. Little Amy has been keeping us busy the last 4 months. One of these days I'll get back out to do some work on the 'ol girl.

A few weeks ago my father in law helped me run electric to this garage, and set up my work bench and get things organized. Finally got some time to do some work and I removed the fenders again but this allowed me to start gluing the a pillar seals into place. The passenger side I glued in with one shot, and it moved a little in middle, so I will need to remove and re-glue part of it. The drivers side I did second, and was a little smarter. I cleaned and roughed up the back side of the rubber seal so that the glue would stick well, then I only glued the top section of the seal in place. I glued the curved part from above the top hinge towards the windshield. Next I will glue the bottom 3/4 of the seal and stretch it into place. As it hangs, you can see it is about 1-2 inches too short, but can stretch easily. It is also held in place with some screws....Slowly making progress again.

Finished the second stage of gluing the gaskets on the door pillar. After hanging the driver side fender, it was obvious that the gasket was too think, and leaves the fender sticking up/out 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Ross warned me about that a while back. I just used the air powered die grinder and shaved a little bit off the gasket. Messy, but effective.

The door gaskets that I have do have 3 screws to locate them. One on the top, and two on the bottom. They seem to fit quite well with respect to the door side of the gasket. The lip that sticks up could have perhaps 1/8 inch ground/cut off, but the door still closes well on it, and if I put some vaseline on it, I don't think I have to worry about it moving or catching and folding over. I still have to work on the fender side seal. That may take a little more grinding. It is annoying that they don't fit perfectly, but I'll get over it. I think it is also better if the front side of the gasket seals under the fender. This keeps the road splash from the front tires from getting out of the fender, and away from the door.
A softer rubber material probably would have made this all a lot easier.

I finally cleaned up and polished the grill I got from Gerry at southwest. I cleaned it with a fingernail brush and white vinnegar and then gave it a good bit of elbow grease with "ecromal" a chrome and metal polish. Is it possible to hammer (lightly) this dent out? I have a hammer and dolly set, but am frightened to hammer on this cast metal part.
