And I think in addition to the flock on the sides and the ledge between the wheel wells there was a fairly thin mat made of a similar coarse fiber placed on the flat floor. The original long fiber coarse rayon flock material might be hard to find although FlockIt does say they will custom match flocking. Of course, that might be only if you order ten times more than you need and only in the modern fibers. I used nylon fibers on the 47. It is larger fiber than the rayon but not as large as the original. Wonder if any of the Bill Hirsch trunk carpet material would be appropriate.

I don't know how the trunk finish might have varied across the various '54 models; the '54 Cavalier had sides flocked in a medium tan, a bit darker than chamois, and the deck had a flimsy, very thin carpet material of a very short nap ribbed hogs hair type material. If memory serves, my '54 Patrician had the same treatment; whether the Caribbean was different is unknown to me.

I have a '53 Caribbean & have been looking for a liner too. All the original flocking is gone so the sides of my trunk have oxidized. I have placed a rubber backed grey trade show carpet on the floor. To use that to cover the curves would be a challenge. I could also spray it with flocking material or a speckle finish.

There was a beautiful 54 Patty that just sold on ebay. You can view it by going to completed listings. There is a view of a sales brochure laying on the trunk mat. You can very nicely see the color and texture of the factory installed mat.
