The post below was taken from the Recent Chat Window(Top of page, right). Putting a copy here in case it's missed there and will let the original poster know what I've done.

"TonyK1955: Converting 1938 2+2 coupe back to original rumble seat. Any information on water drainage appreciated"

My comment is that I thought the last rumble seats in Packard Coupes were in '37, so one in a '38 doesn't sound right. Unless it's coachbuilt from the era?

1937 was the last year for the rumble seat in the junior line. In 38 it turned into a 5 window coupe, So you wouldn't convert it back cause there never was such a thing on the 5 window coupes. I'm fairly certain that the deck is to short to have a rumble seat on these cars.

I probably wasn't too clear about restoring the rumble seat. The car is a 1938 super eight model 1604 body style 1118. The original rumble seat was removed and replaced with a trunk. The sheet metal below the rumble seat was cut out and welded to the rumble seat door and attached to car (ugly) to form a trunk lid. We have a replacement rumble seat door and original brackets which have been mounted to the car to fit in the original rumble seat opening. My question concerns the replacement of the sheet metal decking below the rumble seat and what water drainage should be considered. Originally the car must have had something to handle water that got around the molding. We noted a drain line below the rear roll down window (original?). We need to clarify before completing the replacement sheet metal on the rear decking.

Just in the "senior" series of cars:

#1118 - '38 Super Eight 2-4 passenger coupe
#1138 - '38 Twelve 2-4 passenger coupe
#1238 - '39 Twelve 2-4 passenger coupe

Tony,
to PackardInfo, and I invite you to include your '38 Coupe in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Tony and Dave(O_D),

Thanks for putting me back on the straight and narrow, my Packard education is now a little more complete.
