Red Heater Hose ??

Happy Friday Everyone,

Here's the authenticity question du jour: Does anyone know what the period correct applications of red heater hose are?

To my knowledge, I don't know if there were periods of time in which the industry used red or both red and black, nor do I know whether there were any particular makes that employed red hose.

Having grown up on a farm, I've seen it quite often on agricultural and heavy mobile and stationary equipment. I seem to recall having seen it on cars of various years at shows, but have no idea of it's background or whether it was ever original equipment.

There was a brief period time, more-or-less between 1910 and perhaps the end of WW I, that some makes used red radiator hose as OEM equipment. But as to red heater hose, unless someone finds a notation to the contrary in a parts book or other bona fide source, I believe that red heater hose was strictly an aftermarket item.
