It's unusual to see power brakes with a stick transmission. My '52 Henney-Packard was like that so it stood out to me on this Pacific.

I think I see an Ultra quadrant on the column so it might not have left the factory with a manual.

Don, yes very unusual since Ultramatic was standard equipment in the Pacific. That vehicle was converted to standard shift at a later date.

Hi Randy

I've been interested in that Pacific since it showed up on Craigslist earlier this year. Have you had a chance to inspect it in person? I'd be interested to your assessment of its condition.

I have reason to make a swing into the area later this year, intend to check out that Pacific if its still for sale by then, but would appreciate an independent assessment before I do so. Whether I buy it or not, given how scarce those are, I'm sure others would like to know more about it, maybe beat me to it.

Thanks!

Steve

.....epigram time.....
Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

I haven't seen this vehicle, but it has had several mods.
1951 hood. Stick shift. Solid black - I thought all Pacifics were two-toned.
Between the body/paint work and the chrome plating you would have a lot of money invested.
Also need to have a 54 gear-start ultra?

The Pacific I had was equipped with a regular Ultra so would have a gear start only if a late production. That is a question for the experts. When the GS was introduced did the regular Ultra production stop immediately like they did with the Clipper Custom/Executive changeover or could you still get a regular Ultra if desired after the GS introduction?
