Interesting pics! Same as you, O_D, I think the cars look better with their traditionally sized whitewalls, which don't appear to be too wide, judging by the cars at the end of the showroom.

I had read that the first car to offer the narrow band whitewalls was the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. Both of these pics proove it wrong.

Thanks!

When all is said and done YOU have to like it. I like the look of wide whites. I also run halogens for safety. I drive a lot and appreciate their advantage. It's your car - enjoy it as you want it to be.

And while at original pics... These two would seem to prove what was the regular white wall size Packard supplied most of their cars with.

For a guy using metric system, like me, how much do you guys think that whitewall measures in inches? Around 3" perhaps?

Thanks,
Victor

Randy: Yes! But I want it to be as close to the original aspect as possible, while of course I accept the suggestions and understand using more modern lighting and tires.

Your car really looks gorgeous! Can you tell me what size of whitewalls does it have? Is it the Diamond Back with 3" or the extra wide white ones with 3 3/4"?

Thanks!
Victor

Victor, these tires on my '56 Caribbean are P235/75R15 Good Year Deluxe Super Cushions; if you like this whitewall width it measures 3? inches or about 83mm. Compare the width here to the tires on the Carl E. Filer factory delivery photo above.

Victor, I went out to the garage and measured the whitewall.
From the outer edge of the white to the rim it measures 2 3/4 inches. My memory says that is the 3-inch whitewall.
I always order mine from Dale Mease Mid-Atlantic Packards as they earn a buck that way. I drive a lot and run max air pressure. I will look forward to your progress. Enjoy!

Owen: Gorgeous car, congratulations! One of my favorite Caribbean combos!

Randy: Thanks a lot for taking the time to measure your car's whitewalls.

So... something in between 2 3/4 and 3 1/4 will work great, as I can see on both of your cars!

Thanks a lot!
Victor
