on the mechanical end of things this car seems about as good as an old find can get. all the lights worked with only a few grounds needing a cleaning, it has great oil pressure, the charging, starting, and cooling systems work fine and all the gauges work, except for the speedo, which has a broken cable.

I pulled the oil pan after i had a run of lifter collapses due to sludge, and all the main bearings were in fine shape. The vacuum pump body screws were loose, but a little loctite helped that.

Some other interesting notes, there is no evidence of there ever being an inspection sticker on the windshield.

Also, according to the oil change stickers on the door pilar, this car has only had roughly 300 miles since 1969.

as of 5 oclock eastern last night, i am now the proud owner of 2 1955 Patricians! one is definately a parts car, the other may be perfect material for a surviver preservation!

i am going to restore the police car as i have planned, but now i have some more resources.

the restorable car is equipped with factory A/C and factory wire wheels, and the parts car has power windows.

hope to have pictures within a few days!

Mike,

Congratulations, and don't forget to add them BOTH into the Owner Registry together with pic's, any known history and how you acquired them.

well... I removed both power steering pumps from my parts cars (both with bendix steering) and tried them on the police car. both pumps are shot. the one off the prts car seems to move fluid, but it pisses everywhere in the process. the other pump vibrates horribly and after a short test ride, it seemed to stop working.

heres the thing that bugs me. I installed the pumps, got the front wheels off the ground, filled the resivor, then started the engine. i then ran the steering wheel back and forth to ppurge the air. while the wheels were off the ground, everything seemed normal, but as soon as i put the wheels on the ground, it had no power assist. both units seemed to be pumping, but with no affect. the two main hoses are brand new, and the lower hoses seem fine. the system seemed purge air bubbles fine, it just seems like all volume, and no pressure.

im stumped. and pissed.
