833 straight eight optimal rpm service range

I would like to find out what the optimal service range for RPMs should be for the straight eight.
did Packard have a design RPM range that was most suitable for the motor if anyone could help with that I would appreciate it

Just my own recommendation, also shared by many folks I know with the same or similar engines (5" stroke, poured bearings) who do driving tours is that you want to avoid sustained operation above 2500 or 2600 rpm. For the 833 with 6.50x19 tires that corresponds roughly to about 50 mph which is also a conservative and comfortable limit for sustained driving for the suspension, steering, brakes, lighting, and mechanical features of the car in general.

Thanks! I agree that running much over 45 becomes a little Edgy even with the best of these cars I believe.

What many tend not to recognize when we talk about the gearing of these cars is that when they were built about 70% of the nation's roads were still unpaved and the opportunities to find roads where you could safely cruise along at 50 mph were quite limited.
