Had a bit of an electrical issue a few days ago and eventually it was determined that when the car is put into reverse, the rear lights come on. Some how that switch shorted/malfunctioned causing the bigger problem. OK, But.....Is that the way Packard wired and handled back-up lighting back in 1934 ? Just doesn't seem correct to me.
Or instead did Packard make a stand alone back-up light or was it a generic type sold by the dealers ?
If so, any idea what they looked like and where at the back were they located ?
As always. sincerely appreciate your help.
Regards,
TomB

If your car is wired correctly, it's not the tail lights that come on when you put the trans in reverse but the brake lights. Intended more to alert folks behind you that you were backing up than for illumination rearwards.
