Greetings, I'm new to the forum and have inherited an all original 1921 Single Six Sedan. Would like to know what modern crankcase oil would be appropriate for this car. My first though was a non-detergent straight 30 wt. Got to crawl before I can walk!...Thanks, Ken.

First drop and clean the oil pan and oil pump intake screen. Then I'd recommend a top quality SAE 30 detergent oil, CAM 2 for example.

G'day Ken Karns,
to PackardInfo.

I invite you to include your '21 Single Six Sedan in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Plus, I'm pretty sure 1st Series Guru DavidM will chime in here during his round Australia travels!

OK Owen, so no need to worry about the modern detergent oils? Thanks much for the prompt reply. My plan is to get the car back on the road and will be dealing with the fuel system next, brake check, etc...

I'm giving an image post a try so here's the car in my garage in lieu of some well deserved attention.

Thanks Mal...I will certainly do that and it liklely is on the registry as my father owned the car and passed away years ago. He was quite active in the Packard Clubs so I'd be surprised if it wasn't listed...that was some time ago though. The real plus with this car is it came with a large lot of spare parts in cluding a motor and I believe a tranny, rear end, etc..I will be retrieving the parts from storage soon and get a good inventory. Thanks again...Ken

Just updated the car on the Registry.

Can anyone tell me what the prefix and suffix designations are for the engine numbers?

Engine # in my car: U2225D (what is the U and D)

Spare Engine #: U7682 With a Star after?

Thanks, Ken

Ken,
for including your '21 1st Series Single Six Sedan in the Packard Owner's Registry. A magnificent and very stately survivor!
