Bending or actualy making a new oil filler tube was rather much to do about nothing.

All they needed to do is to mount a filler cap in the valve cover.

Hower, the bent filler tube in the pic is most likely just some stock exhaust pipe length that was pre-bent for some other automotive exhaust application. And they just stuck the filler caap o top of that.

Mounting to left side of engine i prefer. Keeps compressor away from generator and fuel pump for easier service of gen and pump.

ALtho, my 56 Exec is using a 84 toyota compressor which is rather small.

Are the cars with the large 4 cyl compressors equiped with TWO evaporators????? As in maybe a front and rear seat evaporator???

I don't believe that any Packard ever had dual air although it might be interesting to retrofit one that way. My 1965 Imperial LeBaron has both front and rear A/C but still uses the same V2 compressor as cars without the rear air option.

No. Just a single evaporator coil but the coils then were huge compared to what we use today. Even the aftermarket hang ons were fairly large. The 55-56 factory in dash version is 27 long x 5 high x 5 deep. The AC systems were compared to those used in meat lockers with good reason.

Interesting, that in post #1 photo with what looks like a V-4 compressor, the oil fill tube and breather is in its stock position. JWL
