Hello West,
I have the magazine also, Harry restored it in the early 70's, that article was in 1987 and that was the last it was seen.
I am about halfway on the restoration, it is now gunmetal and black with a silver gray beltline.
Attached are some photos, the last shows the colors.
Richard

Hello Richard:

Your new color combo of black/gunmetal and silver gray should be quite handsome.

What was going on in the disco era of the 1970s that had restorers doing way too many cars in chocolate and tan with ORANGE wheels??? Today that color combo is about as popular as a powder blue, double-knit, leisure suit with a ruffled-front shirt

I've always considered the 70s as a time period when good taste (cars, clothes, etc.) was in short supply.

"car in chocolate and tan with ORANGE wheels"

I've always called those cars "Circus Wagons".

Roger, Big,

Iam thinking dark red or a burgundy for the wheels with matching pinstripe.
What do you two think?

Richard

Hello Richard:

I have not seen all of your existing color choices, so silvery your silver gray is. Please take my suggestions with a grain of grain of salt.

Wheels: Have you thought about either using your gunmetal or perhaps the silver gray? I am trying to picture a nice wheel color with the black fenders as the background. My thought is a lighter color - maybe that is the silver gray.

Pinstriping: It might depend on what areas you pinstripe as the body color might be different than the revel color. Perhaps a brighter royal blue would have nice contrast with both the black and silver gray.

Rather than ask me it might be better to speak with a painter from a top restoration shop that sees a lot a cars at the higher-end shows.

LOL Roger - yes, tan body ,chocolate fenders, orange wheels, seemed to be the required color for 32 Chevy's then. Went with Avocado and Harvest Gold?
