So im getting real close to starting the car for the first time in 20+years and i inspect the carb (Stromberg BXOV26) has a crack in the pot metal of the carb itself not the cast iron base. no biggie ill call Kantner. I was honest with them and they said they will not sell me a carb unless i have a rebuildable core.....another place told me they may have one depending if it says 10-45 or 10-46 to the tune of 700 bucks WOW!!!!!sooooooooo i want to put a Stromberg back on it not a carter. Does anyone have any sugestions

Good afternoon...Max Merritt 317-736-6233 is another place to try. Also Patrician Industries 313-565-3573. As well as John Ulrich Packard Parts 510-223-9587. If these guys cant help you, they will hand you off to someone who can. Ernie

Don't get hung up on Stromberg. I did when the usual places didn't have one and paid $1100 to an unscrupulous seller in AZ. I didn't know better. Packard replaced the Stromberg with Carter after the war or sooner. A very knowledgeable participant on this site told me Carter is a better carburetor anyway, a lot more available and less expensive.

Why not a Carter? Both the Stromberg BXOV and Carter WA1 are both very good carbs.

Sorry all i went out of town to Barrett Jackson this weekend.....and thanks for all the help and support its pretty cool!!!!!! i dont have anything against a carter...the car came with the Stromberg so i was just trying to keep it almost original lol........buuuuut if the carter is that much better i just might have to give it a try. You hear so much about the Strom 97.you would think these are goodas well.

Next up is the MC and fuel pump. Pump is weak but the car did start and drive down the street with the aid of the park brake!!! lol and the MC is just shot.
