Crank bearing?

I purchased a mostly NOS 320 and realized at the back of the engine where the torque converter mates to the engine is not the same as the original engine. It appears to just be a bearing on the new engine that was not on the old one. I have an ultramatic trans. Can I simply remove the bearing and everything will work fine? I don't want to assume and end up costing myself more money repairing it than having it addressed properly the first time. Pics of the old and new are attached. The old is considerably deeper to allow for the front of the torque converter.

Thank you in advance,
Shane

Jack should be along any moment but if that bearing is NOS & you can remove it without damaging it, they are pretty hard to come by.

I've had good luck locating hard to find or obsolete ball bearings here:

Yes, just remove the bearing and mount the convertor like usual.

Thank you, that's what I was hoping for. Out of curiosity, what is the bearing for?

Engine must have been in a standard trans car because that is the pilot bearing. A special size in 55-6 and unless something has changed in the last couple of years, as 64avanti said in his post, it has been reported exact replacements are not that plentiful. If it is still good try to get it out without damage and hang on to it. Maybe someone else could use it.
