Exhaust question

Quick and easy question for you all. Will the dual exhaust system for the Patrician and 400 fit a Clipper? I know they have different wheelbases, but wasn't sure about the exhaust path underneath the car. I don't want to by a kit if the bends don't fit.

Thank you in advance.
Shane

Believe the wheelbase difference was added behind the front doors just ahead of the rear seat area so things up to there should fit. I don't know when they started providing holes in all Clipper frames but one issue may be that it appears some of the early 55 Deluxe and Super frames that were for cars with single exhaust did not have a hole cut out in the X member for an exhaust pipe to pass thru. I believe the hole was missing on the left side. You might look at Plates 20A and 29D in the parts manual and see if your car has cutouts in the appropriate locations which would be in the area just behind the front seat.

There is also a clamp that bolted on the frame and spanned the hole so the exhaust would be supported as it passed thru. You may have to fabricate a clamp to match the other side and cut the hole. I didn't see a listing but you might inquire of the vendor if he has patterns for a 5560 or 5660 Clipper Custom. Those had duals as stock and should be a drop in fit to your car.

Clipper and Packard dual systems differ in how they terminate at the rear of the car.

Thank you gentlemen. It appears that I do have the hole in the cross member so I am going to go this route if the vendor does not have a Clipper style available. I appreciate your assistance and knowledge.
