We have had an unusually damp summer here on the east cost, and it seem like every I want to take the coupe out for a ride, it had to deal with corrosion on the ignition points.

I have a friend that stated that they make premium ignition points that are made out of Platinum

Does any Know these Platinum points exist for a 1936 120?
If so, who's got them?
Thanks again
Will

Almost certainly your problem is a failing or mis-matched condenser and not corrosion of the points due to humidity. While tungsten alloy points can oxidize lightly after very prolonged storage in less than ideal conditions, even that is quite uncommon for a car is regular use. I also live in humid New Jersey and have never had problems with points "corroding". I'll bet if you polish and regap (or replace) your points and install a new condenser your problems will be behind you.

Tungsten is the universal metal for the contact pads on ignition points, I've never heard of any other metal being used for automotive ignition points.

I have a friend I share a shop with that pulled the dist out and set it up on a dist machine. Thought it would detect a bad condenser, but I could be wrong
Thanks again, I will give the condenser a try

Good Morning...I think that Owen's point is that you might have the incorrect condenser in your Packard. The major suppliers will have the correct one for your Packard. Ernie in Arizona
