Both Generators correct?

Just wondered if this is correct........... I looked up (for a 1939 Super 8) part numbers for my Auto-Lite generator and it shows; part number 239537 / application 1703-3A-5/ note GCO 4803A AND GCO 4807A. Does this mean the car came with either an 03A or an 07A and are they pretty much identical and also you use the same Voltage Regulator for both?

Thanks,

Steve

As confirmation, Motor's Manual lists both the GCO 4807A and 4803A generator with the VRB-4012A-1 regulator for the 1939 Super Eight.

Thanks Owen, I just wonder since it's true then why have 2 different model numbers for the same generator? There must be a reason.

The generators are not identical.
The GCO-4807A uses different field coils than the GCO-4803A, otherwise the same.

Well, as long as the electrical output is the same I should have no problems!
