55 Caribbean.

Ideas on holes?. In turbine

Then..whoever rebuilt it didn't even line up match marks.

The plate..the backside was ground to. Why ?..

It is ground with a taper..but it's all over the place..about 10 thou. Difference.. Around ..so it has a wave..

The 55 Caribbean turbine is smaller than a 56 ..forgot to take picture.

But..seems to me..a larger turbine would put out more ..

Anyone figure out these markings..bottom photos.

These brakes.

Lot of talk about the cap.. But in the service letter..packard. Made a curve on top cap for 56. Which service persons thought were blown.

I. Have a 55 in mine..cause I thought that cap was upgrade.

The body on the 55 is a little longer than 56..but they use the same springs.

Now I do have an NOS cap. Like the 55. On package saids 55.56. With part no.

The curve in the 56 cap is the opposite of those flat beds you see unloaded they have the arc..loaded..the arc relaxes..

I doubt that cap flexes ..

Riki,

The parts book page 51, says there were 2 different oil pans used one for cast iron case, and one for aluminum case. Cast iron used 21 5/16-18x5/8 and the aluminum used 20 5/16-18x3/4.

Can you confirm since you have a 55 and 56 open?

Yes I'll check tomorrow..i can put pans together and take a picture. With a rule.

The 55 case is with Gerry. But I have the pan.

The pan gasket looks bigger.

Is your car a show car or a driver. If it is a driver do yourself a favor and convert it to a 700r Bendtsen's transmission adapters specifically make a kit for the 1955-6 Packards. I've had one in my 1955 400 for about 5 years and that was the end of tranny problems with this car. Plus the car now gets great gas mileage had more pick up and is now a reliable automobile. If it is a show car replace it with a 56. If you go with the 56 twin make sure you get Ross Miller to rebuild it.

How can someone tighten something so much.

This was a good case..now have to weld it. That's the rear pump pressure out.

If it was the vent would not care.
