A stock 1951 tank is different in that it has a filler-whistle that was discontinued starting in 1952. Otherwise they fit the same.

Here is a picture of the original and new tanks side by side to show the filler pipe differences. Also a picture of the template overlaying the two which I used to bend the new one. The dotted lines on the template are the body for the filler to show the limitations of bends made.
