Where can i find a rebuild kit for my carb .. Its a Chandler !ac .. the list shows the rebuild kit # 1473.

I dont see a rebuild kit on Kanters or Max M
But i did fin a place on the web "The carburetor shop"

So where can i find a re builder or rebuild kit

Is that a factory carburetor or an aftermarket replacement? I'm not overly-familiar with 1937 Packards but I never heard of that brand.

Chandler-Groves carburetors were used for a time as OEM equipment on junior Packards in the late 30s. They proved somewhat unsatisfactory and were discontinued and substitutes offered. You can check in the 1937-38 shop manual for carb numbers and replacements.

You might check with Daytona Parts in FL for a kit for the Chandler-Groves, but given how unsatisfactory they were, you might be better served to get one of the replacement units.

I didn't see a kit listing at Daytonahttp://www.daytonaparts.com but maybe worth a call to see what they say. One of the AACA posters who is also a carb rebuilder (I believe he is the same shop you already mentioned) said dual barrel models of the carbs were on some Fords. If yours is a single barrel then maybe out of luck if none of the parts will interchange but if a dual, possibly one of the Ford parts guys could help. I believe I remember some Packard owners being on various forums with similar issues and received advice similar to that O_D just gave and ultimately decided to replace them.

My '39 Junior car has a Carter WA-1 as the 'brand of record' and I believe it is a decent and reliable carb. Easy to purchase rebuilds and kits as well. Chris.

I look on the carb list and it the chandler or the carter WA-1

The WA-1 carbs are all over and some NOS ones can be had for little as $75 ..

I love to hear from some people running the WA-1

or post pics so i can get the correct linkage set up ..

Ramcuda, there are many different Carter WA-1 carbs, make sure you buy the correct model. The WA-1 is a good carburetor, used well into the 1950s on the Hudsons with Twin H power, among others.

Carter is the preferred replacement for the original Chandler Groves carburetor and the following model numbers will work:

WA1 Model 359S which was superseded by 477S
WA1 Model 477S is the best replacement
WA1 Model 530S may work but the linkage to the accelerator pedal could be different

The Stromberg Model BXOV-26 was also used on the 6 cylinder cars
