I have a 28 288 6 genarator with at least a bad armature shaft. Tag missing. 28 has choke and spark knobs at top of dash. I don't know if I have a cg678 or cd777 does anyone know how to tell the difference. I saw someone on here going by username owen-dyneto. Hopefully he or someone can help.

My references say the 5th Series Six (526, 533) should have the CD-777, 4th Series Six the CG-678. Sorry but no, I don't know how to visually tell one from the other but perhaps others here with more familiarity with the earlier cars can be of help. Or you might contact one of the firms that specialize in Owen-Dyneto service.

It's "generator".

Hello,
I have an original 1929 Parts book which shows the visual components of the CG-678 and the CD-777 and CD-800. I have attached pictures of both. Hopefully this helps.

John
