1931 Hood Latch catch

I am working on a 1931 series 840 hood (bonnet) latch. The latches are not the turn handle as 1932 and later hoods, but it has 4, cam operated hook levers (One in each hood corner). I have the latch which ataches to the hood but am missing the catches they mate to on the body. I was wondering if someone with a 1931 Packard could take a picture of their hood latch catches, so I could fabricate some for my car. One picture of a front, and one of a rear would be sufficient. Thanks for the help.

I believe the Packard museum in Dayton has a 1931 model that you could look at. You might want to call first.

I tried that first. They had a 1930 and a 1932 which are both different. The 30 is all external to the hood, and the 1932 is a turn handle. They were really nice and let me look upstairs and in the basement. No luck.
I think my hood catches are probably a steal plate which the hook on the cam operating lever hooks to. It would be nice to see the real thing to make it as close to original as posable.
I've seen some of the later hooks which were a bent rod, but that was a different operating mechanism. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi series104,

I have a 1931 833 with the latch type. I could take some pictures and get some dimensions for you but it won't be until the weekend.

Good morning 014,

I stopped over at the house this morning and took a few pictures. It is hard to get some good ones due to the fact the side mount tire and the fender being in the way.

I will get back over there on the weekend and take them off and get some better pictures and dimensions for you.

Hope the ones I posted gives you and idea of what they look like.

Not sure why the pictures rotated. They look fine on my end before uploading. Urgggg

Eek these picture sure do make the car looked filthy. Well it is in away. It has not seen the road in over two years and has not been washed since....

Thanks again. I should be able to scale off your pictures and fit the new catch to the hood latch. I wanted to do this befor I set the engine back in. There is more room to work. Thanks again.
