1952 Packard coil question

1952 Packard Mayfair. Should the coil have an internal or external resistor? I looked at the wiring diagram and do not see a resistor unless itís in the ignition switch or coil.

If you are running the 6 volt system no resistor is necessary and was not incorporated. That is for those crazy later cars--the ones with the bent engines and cylinder heads with (gasp) moving parts.
