I'm looking for an original radio for my recently acquired 1954 Packard Clipper. Working or non-working is fine.

Clipper didnít have its own radio as such (not as far as I know anyway) so any for the year would be appropriate. There were several radios available - with preset buttons, Signal Seeking etc. so all you need to watch for is the design of the knobs which differed between Packard and Packard Clipper. You can check the Packard Parts List to see which radios were available for your specific model.

I have a few radios but not sure of fitment and none have knobs. Iíll take a look today to see what I have.

Knobs for the radios are not the worst thing to chase as depending on style those might have carried over a year or more but you might also need to chase a bezel and I believe Big Kev found those are different depending on which style dash your Clipper has and which radio you wind up with. He touches on a bit of the differences in his project blog. http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/mod ... id=158158#forumpost158158

The parts book may help some with what has already been discussed.

G'day scauzone,
to PackardInfo, but sorry I can't help regarding the radio.

However, I invite you to include your '54 Clipper in the Packard Owner's Registy.

I checked out the radios I have but unfortunately both are 1951-1952 style, one with black buttons, the other with chrome. The knob spacing is the same as on your car but the bezel is much narrower. Both are very rough, too.

Thank you all for your replies and welcome. I have the original radio in my vehicle currently. It powers up, however it doesn't do anything beyond that. My plan was to pull it, restore it, and store it. Then I wanted to take another original radio and have it converted to play FM and blue tooth and use it in the vehicle. Tucson Packard messaged me. I'll be reaching out to them to see what they have.

You should see if you can keep the "guts" from the radio you have converted. You might need some part from it someday for the original radio or someone else here might.
