There is a fine example of the "art of Minerva" in the Blackhawk Museum in Danville. CA.

O_D wrote:"Did the exhibit feature a Minerva? How could they not, they were of course made in Belgium, in the price range and quality of Rolls, Hispano, Maybach, Isotta, and the like and featured a Knight-patent sleeve valve engine - the largest Minerva's used a in-line 8 sleeve valve. Minervas were never made in much quantity and fairly uncommon in US though I know of 3 in a collection here in NJ"

Dave,

This article in Hemmings features a Minerva and I see the owner is from NJ.

...presented to the museum officials. Bets they would be delighted to have accurate information available to visitors...

Steve, the museum seems to be part of the public sector with two different streams of development. On one side it is vital and in permanent transformation (touring exhibitions, guest contributions, special exhibitions, car events etc.). Many privat companies compete for the budget. But on the other side is the puplic schedule. Underpaid students and apathetic base wallahs in waiting position kill the hours until closing time. In the spotlight next to the Bugattis are manicured self-exposer with royal escutcheon on the perfumed jacket talking on-camera about the European cultural history.
I'm in Brussels every three months and will look for an interested official but be forewarned: you could lose the above mentioned bet. Take a look at the next (dis)information sign before putting everything at stake.

Dave, the Amigo looks majestic. I've never been there.

If it would be comparable, then the second best right after Munich. Can we agree on that? The Oktoberfest alone counts 6.5 million visitors. That is 38 times as much as Brussel has inhabitants.

Yes, even more than one and additional Minerva motorbikes. Cars from the royal family, especially from the former King Baudouin are part of the accumulated wealth.
The 1931 Rollston is a car of sterling quality. The Minervas in Brussels are smaller.

...Is there some model or year of minerva that used a different radiator cap? A cap with a womans head that has baby snakes all coiled upon her head?? Or maybe i'm confusing cars with Greek goddeses.

Keith, the "original deity" had something to do with snakes. The car maker changed "...the Roman goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy..."[wikipedia] into a goddes of automobile.

Many thanks for posting the Minerva pictures. The engine, at least astheticaly, is a work of art by any standard. I've never seen one before...

Keith, I second that. Measured by its appearance as harmonious whole just a few motor builders could keep up. I count in Maybach and Z?ndapp.

BDC, whenever I see the monument, then I miss a kind of armored turret.

Gerd, have you ever seen the book Robert Ballard wrote about finding the Bismarck? Very interesting how it was build and how the Britons got it to sink. It was the largest navy vessel at that point with an unbelievable reach with its turret guns for its day.

BDC, not the book but a related documentary. I watch his projects (Yorktown, Bismarck, Titanic, Black Smokers etc.) with deep interest.

Please find below further images of the "1927 Single Six Series 5" ambulance. Is it a 1934?
Sorry for the bad quality of the photographs.
Question related to pic #34: what is the function of the large cranks in the middle and on the right side? Blinds?
