The very cheap 56 Clipper had springs. I've seen others.

Interesting. I was under the impression that all 56s were TB.

Then again, Packard worked in strange and mysterious ways.

The 1956 Clipper Deluxe was also available only as a 4 door sedan.

Footnotes in the Build Sheet and Production Code Charts that I composed for 1955 and 1956 provide a little more insight, with info gleaned from copies of some of the factory Trade Letters. Those letters indicate that '56 Super (5642-47), as well as Deluxe (5622), models may have been built with coil/leaf suspension.

We may never know the full story unless additional factory material becomes available.

THe eBay car w/springs is most likely a very early 56. It would be nice to know the VN.

IIRC some years back someone had indicated some evidence for springs abandandend after early 56 production and only TL available there after.

I believe that the production number system started with the first car as 1000 in 1956, making this car the 5,433rd produced. My notes indicate there were 5,715 of the 5622 produced which would seem to indicate that this car would have been near the end of the assembly.
