G'day Peter (aussie pete),
to PackardInfo, good to have another Aussie on board.

Re your query - If a PMCC sanctioned engine swap of a 288's into Pre War 120's can be done then I'd imagine a 356 into a Post War Eight should likewise be achievable. On this Site, in the Packard Literature and Manuals menu, in the Service Letters, Counselors & Bulletins section are the Right-Hand Drive Engine Replacement Service Letters which detail the swap into Pre War Packards. Have a look at those and you can download them for free! Reason I say it should work is that the 288 and 356 engines are similar in length.

And, I invite you to include your '47 Clipper Deluxe in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Now, changing hats, I'm the Secretary of the Packard Automobile Club of Australia(PACA) and it would be remiss of me not to invite you to join the club. Here's a link to the PACA Website where, besides being able to download a Member application form you'll find our Calendar of Events. In the Calendar of Events the next NSW run is to the Reptile Park on the Central Coast which I'll be attending in my '41 120 Club Coupe, only about 180kms each way. Maybe you could make your way down from Newcastle to meet some of the clubs Sydney and Central Coast members on the day? PS - We'll probably go on from the Reptile Park to the new Gosford Classic Car Museum at Gosford.

Or give me a call on 0423 171 170?
