Resemblance of the 1941 Packard and the 1941 Cadillac:

New for 1941: Faired-in headlights
New for 1941: Chromed lower speed lines on front and rear fenders

I agree - Clipper club sedan vs Cadillac fastback, club coupes head to head. Both Cadillac and Packard still had narrow grilles, cat walks, and free-standing headlights in 1940.

Cadillac's transition to a wide horizontal grille made further front end evolution easier. I'd argue the Clipper fender fade is more elegant and streamlined than the Caddy pontoons. For that matter, so is the bathtub fuselage style, but the execution by reusing the narrower greenhouse upsets the proportions.

West,

You are correct.

I replaced the 1941 Cadillac Series 61 Coupe fastback with a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Deluxe Coupe.

How about something on the higher end?

Top, 1941 Packard 160 formal sedan

Bottom, 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special imperial sedan

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

I'm enjoying the comparison but just a note on the above pictures - the Packard pictured is NOT a 160 Formal Sedan, there was no formal sedan offered in the 160 line. Somewhere I have a picture of a 1941 180 Formal Sedan, actually Bob Turnquist's last restoration. I'll post it if I can find it.

If I am not mistaken if you look at the grill, it is a 42 Packard.

In regard to the comparison between the two club coupes, I'd like to marry pieces of each. The Packard front end design wins hands down, but the Cadillac's body, with its slanted B pillars and better windshield rake, looks to be much more sporty.
