Packard part number for all 54 and 55 pinion seals is 446090. According to an old seal xref which was published on one of the Studebaker forums the number crosses to an old Victor #46023. Usually the seal xref gives a number for C/R and National seals too but not in this case.

The SKF interchange page does not list that seal so either it is no longer available or possibly the number consisted of more than one item. Packard pinion seals frequently came already mounted in a dust shield and were sold as an assembly. It is possible the Victor number is the complete assy and the seal was just one component.

You might be able to remove your seal assy and find a number for just the seal and cross it but it still might be a vendor only item. Since the pinion preload and ring gear clearance depends on the torque setting of the flange which needs to remove to change the seal, be careful and follow the procedure that has been mentioned several times on the forum about carefully removing the nut and counting turns and threads to put the nut and flange back in precisely the same location. If you fail to do that it doesn't take long before the rear axle is making noise.

Max Merritt and Kanter both have seals available.

I too looked for a X ref. It is a pretty special animal, looks like a seal pressed into a seal.
You will need to call your Packard parts source of favor.
