What is the correct orientation of the pistons when installed. I have found conflicting information on which direction the slot goes in reprinted Packard manuals as well as Motors manuals and Chiltons. More important than the slot I am told the wrist pin is also slightly off set in the piston. Thanks in advance for any light on the subject.

Sometime in the late 1920s (or was it the early 1930s?) Packard changed their advice to now place the piston expansion slot facing the camshaft and that's where yours should be. Packard did note at the time however that it wasn't so significant as to require the reversing of prior installations done the opposite way.

I'm not aware of a piston pin offset for your engine but comment from others who have actually rebuild that specific engine should supersede.
